Pumpkin FHE

Monday for FHE we wanted to head out to a pumpkin patch and bring home some pumpkins to carve. We left the house at 6pm after dinner only to discover that most farms are either only open to the public on weekends or closed up by then! So we went to Krogers, picked out two nice looking pumpkins for $3 each and went home. We promised the kids a more exciting adventure on Saturday.

This worked better because we had time to carve them and still have the kids in bed at a decent time.

Dynomite would not stick her hand in the pumpkin! Finally she did, so we snapped a picture. (My kids prefer to be naked, they don't get that from me!!)

This is very intense work...
We saved the seeds from the pumpkin guts and baked them in the oven with a wee bit of salt. Travis carved a smiley face for Dynomite and three bats for Trouble. We gutted outside with my Pampered Chef metal ice cream scoop, so clean-up was a breeze. Travis carved the pumpkins with a Sheetrock saw, which made the job way easy! So we put in some Emergency Essential 100 hr. candles and took pictures.

Here we are with our decorations:

So this is the first year we've ever really decorated (because there isn't any snow or blustery wind to fight), so we're..um...kid friendly. The kids had fun doing some Halloween crafts from Michales, so I taped them to clear thread and hung them from our ceiling inside. I picked up the lady scarecrow from Big Lots for super cheap and hounded Travis to get me a hay bale. Which he informed me was not really a full bale...duh, even I can lift it!! Do you like the flowers? One of three plants that haven't died due to my black thumb! Anyway, we are siked this year to actually go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood and do all the great Halloween things Dayton has to offer!
