Good Bye and Good Riddance

So it all started when my dresser (a very ugly dresser I've had since college that my dad and I spray painted white over the orange) fell on little dynomite when she was trying to reach something sitting on top of it. Travis went crazy and dumped all my clothes on the floor and threw the thing outside, breaking it. The next day he came home from work and said, "we're going to buy you a new dresser". So obviously I thought we'd hit the thrift stores, K-mart, Wal-mart...you know the usual cheap stuff. Then we stopped into Slumberland and noticed that a dresser already put together and made of better stuff wasn't that much more! Then I jokingly sat on a couch and said something like, "we'll take this too!" Let me show you our previous couches:
With covers (the cover on the couch is in shreds from over use):

Now to show you a video of what our couches look like without covers:

The couch was my parents that they bought used at a thrift store when I was 3 and passed down to me when I went to college. The couch was given to us 5 years ago. In other words, it was time for them to go.

Anyway, to make a long story short we went to I.Keating and they made Travis a great deal (he basically got everything for the price of just the sofa and love seat plus free delivery) and we walked away with a 'chesser' for me:

with two matching nightstands and a new reclining couch and love seat:Now this may seem silly to blog about furniture, but you have to understand that we hardly ever buy anything new let alone something actually NICE! But we'll probably have this until we die then Thayne can take it :-)

As a side note, one of the delivery guys sprained his ankle while unloading the couch. Luckily the missionaries just happen to be driving by and helped Travis get the couch in the house. I.Keating called later to say that he was doing fine!!

Flowers

Travis and his dad put in raised flower beds on the East side of our house. Unfortunately, that side doesn't get as much sun. They put in three beds against the house and one around the tree. We planted flowers, pumpkins, peas, and carrots. We also leveled out the soil in the back and planted grass so we can get our yard back after the building of the garage. So here are some pictures...

The Kiddos

We were out playing in our little blow up pool and I had Trouble get some toilet paper for his runny nose. Thinking I was outsmarting him I told him to get A SMALL piece of toilet paper. You know little ones... a little turns in to a lot. He brought me the smallest amount ever!! So I tried to wipe his nose (which the tissue got stuck to his wet face), and sensing my dismay he said: "Next time don't say SMALL" Smartalec kid!

Today Dynomite said princess. Now every time she passes a mirror, she waves and says "Hi princess". Yesterday she 'painted' he toe nails with my mascara.

ND State Fair

I love going to the fair. I'm a city kid, so fairs were exciting and once a day, once a year! Travis grew up showing pigs, staying all week and did this multiple times during the year. So for him, it isn't quite as exciting. But deep down inside I just know he loves it!! (Check out pictures below)

This is our last ND State fair. We will miss the fact that it is practically in our backyard, free parking, and small (about a third the size of Oregon State Fair, and 1/8th of the California State Fair). Saturday, we went to the parade that was only a few blocks from our house. We were there for 3 hours and the entries throw out candy and toys. The kids had a blast.

Monday was Military Appreciation Day. We got in for $1 off each. There was a free lunch sponsored by the Beef industry (which Travis loves!!). And free rides from 1-3pm. This is our 5th summer in Minot (3 of which I've been preggo). Unfortunately, we were slow moving because of my inflamed mussel (I'll not tell you where) that makes it hurt to move around too much. But we had a great time!!

This year the animals were fenced off in the petting zoo. Last year Trouble had a cup of food. He tripped over the llama and spilled the food all over his chest. The animals came over started eating off his chest. I thought he would be traumatized for life. But he apparently forgot the whole thing...

Trouble saw the Ferris Wheel up before the fair started and that was all he talked about for days!! Him, Daddy, and Dynomite had a great ride.

Travis climbed in the kiddy ride. The carnie let him stay in long enough for me to take a picture. Then he had to get out!The slide is always fun...

Until they did the Star Wars slide... Dynomite went a little too fast. She got all twisted up and shot out the end. Sorry the video is sideways.

We did hit the sandbox. I'm not joking when I say it was the highlight of the day! (I got to put up my feet and eat Cotton Candy.) We made it through the first half of the racing pig and about 15 minutes of the performing dog. But that is all the shows we got to.

And the end we were exhausted. Let me explained Dynomite's picture. There is this booth were you can get a free 'fetus' baby thing. It is a replica (weight and size) of a 20 week old fetus. Dynomite thought 'it' would make a great sucky toy. She sucked this thing until she fell asleep. She had its head in her mouth. HOW GROSS IS THAT!?! But we couldn't resist the snapshot.

All in all, we had a great time. We'll be looking forward to the fair in which ever state we are in next! Thank you ND for 5 great Fair years!!

7-Who sings better? According to Trouble, neither.
8-Who is smarter? Travis by far. He is a walking encyclopedia. Or at least he's really good at making up answers.
9-Who does the laundry? Me. One time he shrunk all my good sweaters by "being nice" because he "wanted to surprise me" and do the laundry. I was so upset he vowed to never do laundry again. Plus I have control issues. I do allow his help to fold when I get really behind.
10-Who does the dishes?Again, something I prefer to do. Even though I'm not particularly fond of it...control issues.

19-Who proposed? Travis did, and it took the ENTIRE day. It was fun, but mysterious.
20-Who is more sensitive? Travis' favorite thing to do is crack a joke right at the sappy parts of movies.
21-Who has more friends? I don't know?? He sees more adults during the day...
22-Who has more siblings? Travis is the oldest of 5. I'm an only child.
23-Who wears the pants in the family? Travis. I keep things running, but he's the ultimate decision maker.

Book Tag

Rochelle book tagged me! Yeah, I love to read. Sadly enough, some of my choices are always choicest. He title of this book is: Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys. Yes, I admit I read this book. Travis is currently reading it, hence it is in the vicinity of the laptop.

So on pg.123 the 5th sentence it reads "It is not guys who are responsible for this."

I tag Abbey, Jen, Regina and Sara. As for the rules. #1 Get the closest book #2 Find pg. 123 #3 Find the 5th sentence #4 Post the 5th sentence #5 Tag 5 more people! Have fun all !

Daddy's Girl

Dynomite and Daddy have one thing in common....

Summer Fun

I LOVE SUMMER!! Bar-B-Ques, Swimming, Sun, Fireworks, Outside Play, Walks, Camping, Vacations, Sunglasses, Sandles, Picnics, Swimming, Fresh Fruit, and I could go on and on.... Some things we've been up to... (basically I'm taking whatever photos are on our photocard and blogging about it)

1) Grandpa Ray (Travis' Dad) came to visit with his daughter while Denay was at camp. So she is actually Trouble and Dynomites Aunt!! Denay got to see him a few days before they went back to Oregon. He helped Travis lay linoleum in the mud room and put in raised flower beds. Today the kids and Denay will be planting flowers, so we'll take pictures of that.

2) Travis played 'Hero' and rescued some baby blue birds. They fell out of thier nest, but were old enough to fly. So here the kids are holding them. We ended up leaving them on the deck during the day and the Mama bird would come and feed them. Unfortunatley they didn't survive, but we tried.

3) Thayne playing in the new flower beds.

4) Inside Playing (we just put in the A/C): Thayne's Robot (built all by himself) and Kiddos in the chicken

5) Denay getting BIG!!
